If you have been searching for a church near me or a church in Dayton Texas you found us. We are located on the corner of South Cleveland and Houston Streets, just west of Walgreens. We were founded in 1864 and have been offering Christ and serving the Dayton community ever since! We are so happy that you found us. 

 

At First Methodist Dayton, our desire is for you to experience the peace, love, and hope that are found in Jesus. 

 

Our worship service is "traditional" in style, with organ and piano music, liturgy, and sermons that connect the Bible to everyday life. You'll see multiple generations, dressed from blue jean casual to shirt & slacks. You will be greeted by friendly ushers ready to help.

Our beliefs are summarized in an early statement of faith called the Apostles’ Creed: 



I believe in God, the Father Almighty,

maker of heaven and earth;

And in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord;

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

born of the Virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, dead, and buried;

the third day he rose from the dead;

he ascended into heaven,

and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;

from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy catholic* church,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting. Amen.
